WWJR – What Would Jim Read

By

I have a couple of blogging presentations upcoming this week, and when asked to think about suggested readings, I sent a few articles ahead, but the truth is that I find it essential to read just about every day to remain reasonably well versed on matters of new media, entrepreneurial journalism, or however we’re framing it this week.

I surf through many more of course, but I monitor these blogs constantly: Mashable.comTechCrunchNieman Journalism LabRomeneskoReadWriteWeb & paidContent.org

When I go looking for printed inspiration to read while the electronic devices are off – or my batteries die – on a plane, it is usually Wired, Fast Company, or Entrepreneur.

The two most important books I read on these topics in the past year were WWGD and Free, (although it wasn’t free.)

Also, I found a few blogging guides a cut above the rest, including: The Huffington Post Complete Guide to Blogging, ProBlogger: Secrets for Blogging Your Way to a Six-Figure Income (I haven’t FYI) and Getting Noticed on Google (I did for a while.)

Finally, I got a good head start on blog monetization at http://www.blogworldexpo.com/ last year and use the tutotrials at http://www.lynda.com.

This week, I learned a lot at the PhIJI: Philadelphia Initiative for Journalistic Innovation, but more on that will come in another post soon.
