Rest in Peace Kevin

By Jim MacMillan
Kevin Ward

Kevin Ward

He could read me like a book. Kevin knew when to pass me a lager, or make my gin-and-tonic in a pint glass. I think he also knew when to water it down.

Kevin Ward was a bartender at the Pen & Pencil Club – America’s oldest press club – here in Philadelphia for the last 18 years.

I will never forget his deafening laughter, and I will always try to remember the way he made everybody feel important.

A memorial service is planned for 3 p.m. Sunday at club. He will be missed by many.
